About this piece
Indigo is a vat dye — the cloth comes out of the vat green and turns blue in front of you as it oxidises in the air. Depth of colour comes from repeated dips, so a gradient is made by lowering the cloth further each time.
Natural indigo crocks slightly at first, meaning it can rub off onto a very pale collar until the excess is washed out. Wash it once before wearing with white.

Care & keeping
Hand wash cold with a mild wool detergent, or dry clean. Do not wring — press the water out flat and dry away from direct sun. Store folded with cedar rather than mothballs.
