A traditional butter lamp with a chased lotus foot. Takes clarified butter and a cotton wick, or a standard tealight if you would rather not deal with ghee.

About this piece
Butter lamps are lit in rows in every monastery in the Himalaya and the form is completely settled: a wide bowl for the fuel, a narrow waist, a flared foot. The decoration is chased in after casting, one punch at a time.
The interior is left unlacquered so it can be cleaned properly between uses.

Care & keeping
Wipe with a dry cloth. A darkening patina is normal on hand-raised bronze and many owners prefer it; if you want it bright, use a little tamarind paste or a proprietary brass polish and buff dry. Never put it in a dishwasher.
