A Coptic-bound journal in unbleached lokta. The paper takes fountain pen ink beautifully — no feathering, no bleed-through — and the exposed spine stitching lets the book lie completely flat.

Dispatched in 1–2 days from Kathmandu. Ships in 1–2 business days.
30-day returns — if it is not right in your home, send it back and we cover the label.
Paid in full to the maker before it left the workshop.
Handwork varies. Small tool marks and colour shifts are part of the piece, not faults.

About this piece
Lokta pulp is cooked from daphne bark, beaten by hand and poured onto a floating frame to dry in the sun, which is why each sheet has a slightly different thickness and a deckle edge on at least one side.

The long interlocked fibres are what make it strong and archival. Nepali legal and religious documents on lokta have survived a thousand years; the same is not true of anything made from wood pulp.

Coptic binding means no glue in the spine, so it opens flat at any page.

Excellent paper, no bleed at all with a wet nib. Knocking a star off only because the deckle edge means the pages are not perfectly uniform, which I should have expected from handmade paper.
