Green Tara in the classical Karma Gadri style, painted over four months with mineral pigments ground in the studio and finished with 24-karat gold detail. Mounted in traditional silk brocade with a dust cover.

About this piece
Colours are stone: malachite for the green, lapis for the blue, cinnabar for the red, all ground by hand and bound in hide glue. Gold work is applied last and burnished with an agate stylus.
The silk brocade mount is traditional and includes the red-and-yellow inner border, the dust curtain and hanging rods. Signed on the reverse by the painter.

The gold work has to be seen in person. Correspondence before buying was patient and detailed and they sent extra photographs of the brocade unprompted.
