Thrown on a heavy hand-spun wheel and fired in an open straw kiln, which is what gives the surface its uneven smoky black. Unglazed and burnished by stone before firing.

About this piece
Unglazed and slightly porous, so water kept in it stays a few degrees cool by evaporation — which is why the form exists.
Burnished with a smooth stone at the leather-hard stage for the low sheen.
